Indexing the Local, State and Global in the Contemporary Linguistic Landscape of a Hungarian town in Slovakia
2015
On the basis of photography and fieldwork, the linguistic landscape (LL) of the central square of Dunajská Streda/ Dunaszerdahely is analyzed. I focus on commercial names, which dominate the LL of the main square. The research site, a town in Slovakia of which population 80 % is Hungarian speaking, is significant, since historical minorities form the majority in very few European towns. The characteristics, functions and meanings of a linguistic landscape are best charted through a combination of methods. A distributional account provides us a basic account of what languages there are in the investigated scene. We may compare this with surveys, censuses and other similar cities, as in our c…

Italy in Uncertain Times: Europeanizing Foreign Policy in the Declining Proces of the American Hegemony
2019
AR/VR Contextualization of the Statue of Zeus from Solunto
2022
The aim of the research is to test how VR and AR technologies can contribute to a virtuous reconnection between the museums, where archaeological works of art are exhibited, and the sites where these works come from. The connection between the museum and the site will be operated with panoramic images generated with SfM photogrammetric tools; these images will set up a twofold reconnection: i) between the work of art and the building where it was hosted; ii) between the building and the site, with the landscape around. The connection between the site and the museum will be operated with Augmented Reality, through the visualization on site of the works of Art exhibited in the archaeological …
Optical quality of hyperopic and myopic phakic intraocular lenses
2013
Aims: To assess and compare the optical quality of the myopic and hyperopic implantable collamer lens (ICL) from its wavefront aberrations for different powers and pupil diameters. Settings and Design: Prospective study. Material and Methods: The wavefront aberrations of two myopic (−3 and −6 diopters (D)) and two hyperopic V4b ICLs (+3 and +6D) were measured in vitro . To assess and compare the optical quality of different powers of ICLs, we analyzed the root mean square (RMS) of total higher order aberrations (HOAs), trefoil, coma, tetrafoil, secondary astigmatism, and spherical aberration at 3- and 4.5-mm pupil. In addition, the point spread functions (PSFs) of each ICL evaluated were ca…
Spin Crossover and Long-Lived Excited States in a Reduced Molecular Ruby.
2020
Abstract The chromium(III) complex [CrIII(ddpd)2]3+ (molecular ruby; ddpd=N,N′‐dimethyl‐N,N′‐dipyridine‐2‐yl‐pyridine‐2,6‐diamine) is reduced to the genuine chromium(II) complex [CrII(ddpd)2]2+ with d4 electron configuration. This reduced molecular ruby represents one of the very few chromium(II) complexes showing spin crossover (SCO). The reversible SCO is gradual with T 1/2 around room temperature. The low‐spin and high‐spin chromium(II) isomers exhibit distinct spectroscopic and structural properties (UV/Vis/NIR, IR, EPR spectroscopies, single‐crystal XRD). Excitation of [CrII(ddpd)2]2+ with UV light at 20 and 290 K generates electronically excited states with microsecond lifetimes. This…
Using uncertain preferential information from stakeholders to assess the acceptability of alternative forest management plans
2017
In forest management planning, participatory planning processes are often encouraged as a means to acquire relevant information and to enhance the stakeholders' acceptability of alternative plans. This requires the aggregation of the stakeholders' preferences that can be done in a wide variety of manners. The aggregation process strives to reduce the information into a single set of preferences that simplifies the information and allows for the use of discrete decision support tools. Depending on how the preferences are aggregated, a wide range of plan rankings can emerge. Although this range of ranking complicates the issue of plan selection, it does highlight the uncertainty involved in a…
Stability of stochastic nonlinear systems with state-dependent switching
2013
In this paper, the problem of stability on stochastic systems with state-dependent switching is investigated. To analyze properties of the switched system by means of Itô’s formula and Dynkin’s formula, it is critical to show switching instants being stopping times. When the given active-region set can be replaced by its interior, the local solution of the switched system is constructed by defining a series of stopping times as switching instants, and the criteria on global existence and stability of solution are presented by Lyapunov approach. For the case where the active-region set can not be replaced by its interior, the switched systems do not necessarily have solutions, thereby quasi-…
Impact of supplier-specific investments in inter-organisational information systems on strategic electronic coordination: the moderation effect of bu…
2018
Abstract This paper examines the factors which influence sharing of the strategic information (in other words, electronic coordination) in a buyer–supplier dyad. The antecedents of this coordination are examined rather well in the transaction cost economics (TCE) theory and resource-dependency theory (RDT), while the supply chain management perspective is contemplated. The mentioned frameworks are used in the analysis. However, the research focus is narrowed down to the exploration of the antecedents of information exchange conducted via inter-organisational information systems (IOS). The empirical analysis is based on 198 observations of Norwegian companies operating in different types of …
